As soon as we got to the Mississippi state line the car started acting up. One of the new spark plugs I had installed before we left was bad and misfiring a lot. Thankfully, we found a mechanic with the same national chain that installed the plugs and had the problem fixed at no expense. No monetary expense that is – it cost us about 4 hours of our time.

We did enjoy some great Mississippi Bar-B-Q while waiting for the car to be repaired.  The setback made us skip a planned visit to the Bienville Pines Scenic Area but we still made it to Clinton, MS to visit our friends from West Africa JJ Yount and Jesse Lyautey. We enjoyed some swimming and a cookout with them before hitting the road again for some night driving on into Louisianna.
